Van Gogh: Chasing the Light

Van Gogh: Chasing the Light transforms Vincent van Gogh’s world of light, color and hope into a multi-sensory journey through the innovative technologies of the Digital Experience Center. The artist’s life story and works are reinterpreted through artificial intelligence, virtual reality, augmented reality, interactive projections, site-specific video screenings and physical interactive installations.

Scenes and experience areas placed throughout the venue lead the viewer from an entry into Van Gogh’s subconscious to his youth, his creative periods chasing the sun, and the endless landscapes seen from the window of his hospital room in Saint-Rémy. The warmth of yellow, the vitality of nature, and the healing connection he built with color — even in his darkest moments — come to life in the venue’s digital textures and sound design.

As one of the pioneers of Post-Impressionism, Van Gogh’s approach — reconstructing the world not through observation but through emotion — is brought to life anew with today’s technology via light-infused surfaces, moving images, and interactive environments shaped by the participant’s touch. This exhibition accompanies not only Van Gogh’s world, but also the journey of those in search of their own inner light.
